National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government sector public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at + 2 level working for a campus community (esp. villages) linkage.

The Sikkim Government B.Ed College Soreng has joined NSS in the year 2017 since that day NSS Cell is actively working (except during covid time) and performing many activities like regular activities and annual special camps.

During last 5- 6 years College has organized many activities like plantation drive, cleaning the communities, (Soreng Hospital, Soreng Bazar to Singling), street plays (role plays) public awareness, installations of dust bins in different places from college gate to Soreng bazar, Collection of relief funds etc.
